As we move into the 13th chapter of Hosea, the tension between Yahuweh and Israel remains extreme. “When Ephraim spoke, there was trembling and terror (rathet – that which causes fright and fear). He exalted himself in Israel, but through Ba’al he did wrong (‘asham – was declared guilty, offensive and faulty; suffered the penalty of becoming desolate, separated, abandoned, forsaken, damned, and destroyed) and died (muwth – was put to death prematurely).” (Hosea 13:1) This is blunt and black. It is what happens when people associate with Satan.

Lord/Ba’al is one of many costumes Halal ben Shachar wears. Today, he is best known as Allah, but his interests are advanced in every religion—especially the religion of man, secular humanism/socialism. That is what “exalted himself” means.
